Author Sean Stevens was raised in the inner city outside of Boston, Massachusetts. As a child, music was his inspiration. After seeing this through adulthood he converted his writing to poetry. Sean found that his words touched people. Having a rough upbringing, this warmed his heart. His ability to paint pictures through words cemented his drive to continue writing. Sean has published one book "The Gift Of Life Peaks with Valleys" and is currently working on part 2.

Sean currently writes for CoffeeHouseWriters and has a YouTube account: United Through Words.

What does poetry mean to you?

Poetry is an art of self awareness. It's reflected in everything we do. From engaging people, being one with nature and self reflection on our past. Poetry, I summarize in these words: "the art of pictures through words."

What inspires your poetry?

Most of my poetry reflects my past, present and future self. I often look to nature to find relevance in myself. I seek darkness and light in all forms to paint a complete picture.

Which are most important to you: (1) joy, (2) peace, (3) patience, (4) kindness, (5) self-control, (6) faithfulness, (7) gentleness, (8) love, or (9) goodness? If you can, explain why.

1. Love - This is the spirit that drives the human soul. It touches so many as well as leaves scars.

2. Peace - This can be found in much of my writings as each person must find peace in themselves. In order to achieve true happiness one must find peace in all that surrounds them.

What sort of things are you looking forward to improving this year?

Most importantly, my writing time. With the current state of affairs I am able to write more. This has always been a dream for me as it's my passion. I am currently working on a second book. Publishing this is my goal as well as continuing to write more on my experiences in life. This in an effort to reach my inner soul and produce that on paper.

What is one big dream you have?

To have one of my books be nationally recognized, not for monetary reasons, but to know that I might share a moment with a complete stranger. When they read a passage from my book and relate to it. That is my ultimate dream and goal.

Forgotten Father

Fallen shadows

Reminisce

Quagmire

Calming

Winds to shift

Precipice

Stand to shudder

Forever alter

Steps by number

What choices came

To be exact

Away from home

With no way back

Within my ear

Soften voice

Pleading promise

Null to void

Broken values

Family fate

Promise left

Children's pain

Failure father

Good intention

Lack of hope

Life detention
