Hi Everyone! I am Seema Khadka. I was born and grew up in a small beautiful country, Nepal. I am the middle child of my family. Being a Nepal born and raised, my mother tongue is Nepali, which is the reason why I also prefer to write some of my poetry in Nepali. I completed my primary and secondary level education within my hometown, Pokhara. I completed my high school from the capital city, Kathmandu. I am still pursuing my graduation.

Being fond of reading poetry, novels and other writings during my leisure time, I used to get inspired and hence started writing poetry in my own way. But they were just a part of my diaries back then. Few months ago I created my own blog to post them so I could share my creations to this world; so that people can relate their life experiences with my writings and realize that they are not alone.

What does poetry mean to you?

Poetry, for me, is my best friend for I share everything I feel with it and it makes them look so beautiful. Poetry makes every pain, every sadness, every excitement, every love, every break down look so beautiful and so easy. Poetry understands my thoughts and carves them exactly in the way I want them to be carved. Poetry listens my emotions, understand them and wove them so beautifully that I feel so much at peace once I write it.

I don't have to force myself to be a poet, to write a poem. It just comes from within me, like a river flowing from a mountain, the mountain of love, sadness, joy, happiness, beauty, and every other emotion. The poetry I write justifies my feelings in a way that it just fits perfectly in my heart. I don't actually remember when I started writing but what I do know is that through every struggle, every confusion in life, poetry held me together. Earlier, I used to think that what I write here understands my feelings only but now that I share them with everyone, I know we all are bonded together by a same rush of feelings and hence, my poetry understands every single heart that goes through it.

Poetry is my soulmate. In fact, I feel poetry is everybody's soulmate.

What inspires your poetry?

Every life, every emotion, in fact everything I can feel inspires me for poetry. As long as I feel it, the words just flow from my heart portraying itself into poetry. A wind touches my skin and I write poetry, I see water dropping down from the clouds and I write poetry, I feel hurt and I write poetry, I feel confused and I write poetry, I feel alone and I write poetry, I am in love and I write poetry.

I can’t really specify one single thing that inspires me for poetry. I just feel things in poetry and let it flow all over my pages. Each one of our lives is a unique story in itself and I just cut those stories into small pieces of my poetry.

Which are most important to you: (1) joy, (2) peace, (3) patience, (4) kindness, (5) self-control, (6) faithfulness, (7) gentleness, (8) love, or (9) goodness? If you can, explain why.

For me, the most important thing in my life is peace, peace of mind. Only a person with a peace in his mind will be able to relish all the other things mentioned above. What more could we ask than being satisfied with the things that we have in our life? Every thing in life that we do, I believe, is done for us to be content.

Especially in this chaotic, competitive, self-centered world, each one of us require peace of mind. We are human beings, and we are affected by the surrounding but as long as we can achieve the peace within us, we will live a better life. It doesn’t just have psychological but has spiritual and physiological benefits too. The reduction of stress helps me to be calmer, relaxed and it keeps me focused.

What sort of things are you looking forward to improving this year?

This year, the most important thing, I learned is importance of mental health. Also, I realized that writing is one of the best ways to express what you feel inside when it is too difficult to share it in any other way. So, I’m thinking of spreading this message to the people and encourage them into writing. For this, I have also shared my journey with anxiety disorder and how I am dealing with it in my blog.

Personally, I have also started my very first novel. I am really looking forward to it. For this, I am trying to improve my vocabulary and writing skills. Also, I am looking forward to writing more and more poems, and improving my blog.

What is one big dream you have?

My one big dream in life is to be financially independent. Since a very young age, I started feeling so bad when I had to ask money from my parents. It’s not that they don’t provide me with what I want but you know, not having to ask for money with someone makes me feel free. I don’t want to depend on anyone for anything in my life, and most importantly for money, for if I did so, I will feel like I owe them something for what I am and where I am today. I want to do things for me and make them happen on my own. I don’t want anyone else to take credit for what I will become in life.

For sure, I am not that of a big person now. But in life, I believe that I will achieve everything that I have dreamt with hard work, dedication and consistency. I will struggle and make everything that I dreamt of, happen. And most importantly, I will afford the lifestyle I dreamt, I will achieve the peace I want, I will live my dream, I will write more and more.

Colours

“What is your favorite colour?”

they ask

I am so afraid

how can I say black?

for a man is killed for being this colour,

the colour he was born with,

what was he supposed to do?

rip his skin off?

so he could breathe this air too

he didn’t even choose

but still he lost his breathe

now say how can I choose

I’ve put my choice in sheathe

For how long?, after how many lives? will this world understand when the black thrives, why do we paint the demons in the colour black? the real demons these days they hide in the back, back of their mask, which is supposed to be praised no matter what they do? god you’re the witness, and this silence for who?

The 21st of century,

love, beauty, and freedom

but when everyone is growing

blacks fall like an autumn?

justice must be served,

please, stop this racism

let’s make the world peaceful

this is our home,

home for every colour,

colour, caste and creed

our brothers are dying

please, don’t let them bleed.
