Hello World, my name is Shikesh Sorathia, and I am a self-published Author, aspiring writer and a poet from the United Kingdom. I first began writing poetry in 2011 during my most vulnerable time. It was an outlet which allowed me to share my thoughts, but I never imagined that on 28th November 2018, I would become a self-published author of ALMOST. You might ask why I chose that date to publish my book? Well, you will have to read my whole journey to find out. Just keep your tissues ready! You can find it here: amzn.to/2KOaxeL I mostly publish non-fiction and self-help books, but have been thinking of writing children's books in the future. I also plan on writing a few screenplays of different genres and my poetry, well, I write about everything that comes to mind which holds a meaning behind it. Otherwise it's like eating a pizza without any toppings! lol Through my published work, I will continue to share my life lessons, so people don't have to struggle in the ways I did. You can't change the past, but you can certainly make changes today which will ultimately benefit your future.
I go by the saying, "I write to INSPIRE and speak to EMPOWER!"

What does poetry mean to you?
Poetry is a set of words put together to create various emotions through a visual that you experience from mental stimulation.
What inspires your poetry? Life in general is the inspiration behind my poetry.
Which are most important to you: (1) joy, (2) peace, (3) patience, (4) kindness, (5) self-control, (6) faithfulness, (7) gentleness, (8) love, or (9) goodness? If you can, explain why. I don't think I can choose one or a few only as each brings something unique, but if I had to choose my top 3, then I would go with 'patience, kindness and love.' It doesn't matter what is happening in your life, patience will always play a huge part as it teaches us about enjoying the journey, no matter how hard it might be. Kindness is what makes us who we are. We are on this earth to serve and without kindness, it's not possible. Love comes in many forms, but the most powerful form will always be 'self-love.' When you get to a place where you love yourself unconditionally, you will realise that you don't need anyone to make you feel complete as you were always complete... you just didn't realise it.
What sort of things are you looking forward to improving this year? Well, 2020 will be over soon, so not much of a year left but things change so fast, so I guess it's how you look at it. I think there is only one thing that I am looking forward to improving and that's to finally let go of things that aren't benefiting me any longer. It's how I will achieve inner peace to allow bigger and better positive things to enter my life.
What is one big dream you have? I hope to become a global public speaker and spoken word performer.
I Am
I am the light
Of your journey
So, I will show you
Which road to walk on
I am the sparkle
In your eyes
So, I will show you
Your future
I am the softness
In your voice
So, I will help you
Express your fears
I am the darkness
That you feel
So, I will release you
Of your pain.
