Lola Lawrence is a wife and a mother to three special needs children. She has a Bachelors of Science in Behavioral-Social Sciences with a concentration in psychology. Most of her career has been working in mental health until she took time off to care for her children. Lola has been writing poetry since her teenage years. After leaving the workforce to raise her children, Lola found her passion for writing again. She writes poetry, short stories and is currently writing a book. Primarily writing dark and erotic poetry, she also writes erotic fiction and recently had her first publication in a short story anthology.
What does poetry mean to you?
It is passion put to words. Making emotions and concepts tangible by creating imagery.
What inspires your poetry?
Life, experiences, music. Music is a big one. A title or lyric can spark a poem. Even dialogue in movies can inspire me. My muse. He is someone incredibly special and usually behind most of my lines.
Which are most important to you: (1) joy, (2) peace, (3) patience, (4) kindness, (5) self-control, (6) faithfulness, (7) gentleness, (8) love, or (9) goodness? If you can, explain why.
I think all of them are important in different ways. We are complex beings and rarely is anything black or white. We live in a world of gray area. So each of those holds a place in building who we are. Or even a lack of them creates who we are.
What sort of things are you looking forward to improving this year?
My writing for sure. I have issues with time management so setting deadlines and actually meeting them would be a huge improvement. Lol.
What is one big dream you have?
To be published. Even if only one person buys my book, I will still have done it. I'd also like to try my hand at lyrics.
